Poem: You Took Me In

Poem: You Took Me In

You Took Me In

a refuge
a reverie
an agent of regeneration
resonating…

I always say
give of your light
but not of your oil
but how does one get an oil change?

Unexpectedly, it seems
from the arms of divine Love
through your willing hands
stretched out to a stranger

Sand beach filled my soul
–and four oil paintings gushed out–
That place will remain with me always
surging like the tide filling each empty hollow.

The quiet of the white room
with the dawn’s early light
cleansed my worn corners
and mended frayed edges
I didn’t even know I had.

Your freedom, trust, and generosity of Spirit
are an inspiring example for us all
I am humbled by your hospitality
so willing, concise, and balanced.

Christ says,
“As you have done it unto one of the least of these
my brethren, you have done it unto me.”
“Where two are gathered together in my name,
I am in the midst of them.”

Thank you for making this all possible
–more than I knew I needed–
and so wonderful…
