Being in Monhegan and in Booth Bay was not just a feast of nature and painting, but also one of seeing art by others.
I was thrilled to discover Lynne Drexler who died in 1999 an unknown abstract expressionist from the 60’s and has sky-rocked in popularity recently. I find this encouraging since I’ve somewhat painted like her without ever having heard of her, and also if people like her bright abstract approach, there is hope mine will reach general acceptance too. When life slows down a bit, I’ll do a whole blog post on her.
Check out in this post Maine artists whose work I saw there and liked. I gave attribution where I knew it. Which ones do you love?

Calming. The green of the moss. The gray of the rocks. Grounding.

I know good work and am impressed with the high quality of their work. Enjoyed seeing it.

Edward Betts and James Fitgerald have been favorites of mine. They were ahead of their time.
