No Kings Does Have a Vision

I saw a clip of David Brooks where he was saying No Kings had no vision.

I respectfully disagree, although the vision is large and inclusive. I’m just an everyday, concerned citizen, but I’ll write out the beginning of that vision here:

1. We need our right to disagree and peacefully protest to be defended.
2. We need all to be actually equal under the law. That needs to be non-negotiable, and applies to consequences to felons at the top, as well as to the defense, support, and inclusion of anyone’s diversity.
3. We need a balance between the three branches of the Federal government, Presidential powers not to be expanded and abused, the overturning of Citizen’s United, and for corporate and billionaire money to get out of politics.
4. We need our public lands safe from exploitation, stewarding our wild and natural places for future generations.
5. We need everyone to have the right to choose what happens to their own body.
6. We need science to be supported and funded as essential.
7. We need truth restored and the reinstatement of erased information and history. We need to redeem culture from fake news, manipulation, and propaganda.
8. We need to tax the super rich and balance our budget, while providing necessary services for all Americans.
9. We need religious freedom and the separation of church and state, as is foundational in this country.
10. We need accessible, good healthcare as a basic right.
11. We need patriarchy and white supremacy to be over; everyone is due the same respect, dignity, choices, and power.
12. We need to take care of the environment, address global warming, preserve whatever biodiversity is still left, put constraints on pollution, and promote clean energy over fossil fuels.
13. We need clean water, and nutritional food, safeguarded from agricultural corporations’ poisoning and greed.
14. We need support for excellent, safe schools of genuine learning, where our progeny thrive creatively, have positive role models, have less governmental testing, and learn compassion for one another.
15. We need gun control on semi-automatic weapons.
16. We need gerrymandering to stop and sweeping electoral reform instigated.
17. We need immigrants to be appreciated and protected.
18. We need some guardrails on AI so corporations and machines won’t govern our future.
19. We need our country to be good and helpful neighbors in the world, while not cozying up to dictators.
20. We need to support and defend our constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic.

Oh, yes, we have a vision. We are just unsure how to accomplish it in a nation so hijacked, eroded, dysfunctional, corrupt, and broken down. What we need is an action plan.
