I took this lovely spin around New Pond Farm early one morning recently, before settling in to plein air paint. I thought I’d share those paintings today, but I’m still dithering with them, since I feel they need to be pushed past their current more realistic state. So instead, I’m sharing my photos of this lovely place, where our children spent a lot of time growing up, and my husband spent two years working there as a gardener and educator.
It has been a while since I’ve been back, and there have been some changes, but in general the feel is the same. Every time I come, I wonder why I don’t spend more time here, since it is so lovely, and only five minutes from our home. It is always fun to meet who is newly born in the barn (this time that calf who wanted to lick me), and to sit contemplatively by the pond, to ponder the view. If you visit, remind me to bring you here.
New Pond Farm is what they call an educational center where members (like us) have a free range of the land. I’m in their invitational art show as a fundraiser, which opens soon on June 7th. I’ve decided not to submit my plein air work from this day to that, but two others instead. But I was so glad to be again on these old stomping grounds, and thought you might like a photo tour too. Enjoy!
