No Personality (Quote by Mary Baker Eddy)

No Personality (Quote by Mary Baker Eddy)
No Personality letter by Mary Baker Eddy, paintings by Polly Castor Underneath the Everlasting Arms (acrylic) by Polly Castor

“Overcome the evil mind with good. Never talk to it, or of it, but hold steadfastly to Good, Love, and do not feel any other power exists. This will deliver you. If you dwell in thought on any person it will hinder you from overcoming personality in your healing and casting out sin. There is no personality, and this is more important to know than there is no disease. Your lifelong mistake has been your strong sense of personality. Drop it and rid yourself of the seeming effects from personality while holding in mind this personality. The way is to put it wholly out of mind and keep before your thought the right model.”

by Mary Baker Eddy, in a letter to Ann Otis in 1893

This is one of the most important quotes by Mary Baker Eddy. I have not come across it for quite some time and it’s wonderful that you shared it here. I find it so helpful and timely to be reading it again. Thank you, precious Polly.!

  2. This is perfect timing! The local movie station had The three faces of Eve on and I realized how important it is to know each of us as reflection not personality. I was hoping to find this quote and you supplied it. Thank you Polly for all the ways you reach the community.
