On day two, my class moved on to color after previously only doing black and white. In the morning they made collage papers, and in the afternoon, collaged them together. They are doing great, as you can see in the photos below.
At 5pm, there was an “artist salon,” where the teaching artists shared their work with the whole camp. You can see my offering above and below. I sold greeting cards with my artwork, brought three recent collage works, some examples of collage papers, and people also watched the video I made at camp last summer, which is on the top of my home page on my new art website.
After dinner there was singing and s’mores around the campfire, archery with flaming arrows, and bananagrams. On to Gelli printing tomorrow on transparent papers! I overhead someone asking one of my students about my class, and the answer was “fun and exciting!” I can live with that.

I always think of the Eric Carle books with painted paper collage. Also Leo Lionni. Great photos and nice results from the students. 👍
