I was surprised when wandering the room on the last day of our plein air retreat to find that my friend and your fellow blog reader, Mary Beth Morrison, was painting me! I immediately loved it, which I think surprised her. It depicts our mutual friend Sarah and me deciding where to paint next.
You know how they say, if it is not a “Heck yeah!” it’s a no? Well this was a heck yeah. I immediately said I wanted to buy it, which is very uncharacteristic of me. I don’t know how to explain it, but I felt known and seen, which feels great every time I look at it.
Our house is chock full to the brim of my art, along with some of our daughter’s art and my mother’s art, plus a couple pieces I married into. This is the first piece of original art I have purchased, and it had to be pretty meaningful to me to buy it and find a place for it.
I’m keeping it framed in my office/studio to remind me of my friends in Maine and the good times we have.

That is a lovely piece of art and friendship Polly. It is a happy place to go to each time you look at it.

There is nothing better than original art and by someone you know is even better! It’s a nice piece! I believe that generally the art we love reminds us of a feeling of some experience through expression.

“Good on ya,” as they say in New Zealand and Australia!
And the “icing” is the look on the artist’s face!!!

What a wonderful piece of art – not only as a testament to the artist’s exceptional skill, but as a testament to friendship and the beauty of it. My hat is off to all three of you.
