Connecticut Pastel Society Show (April 2023)

Connecticut Pastel Society Show

Last Saturday I had paintings in two shows that opened the same afternoon. The first was this Connecticut Pastel Society show, which includes my painting shown above titled Destination Assured, which was by far the most abstract thing in the show.

You can see the whole show at the Southington Community Arts Center through April. Below, you can see my favorite pieces in the show (that did not have too much glare to photograph).

The bottom piece won “best of show’ and I include a close up detail so you can better appreciate how marvelous it is.

I’ll post the second show I’m in right now tomorrow.

Polly I love this pastel of yours.. very rich colours and I like the composition. I am wondering re framing…do you put glass directly on top of the pastel? Or do you have no glass and then just be very very careful of it?

I use Anti-reflective (AR) glass so it doesn’t look like there is glass but there is. You can put pastels directly against the glass if you seal it well so it won’t move; this is better for shipping. Or you can use spacers to separate the painting from the glass, which is better for other reasons. This one has spacers.

Polly, Thanks for showing your pastel from the CT Pastel Members’ show. It’s a beautiful abstract painting.
I, also, enjoyed seeing some of the other pastel paintings from the show as well.
I missed the Opening that day so I had been looking forward to seeing the prize winners!
