Monhegan Island: Hike to White Head and Burnt Head (Photos)

Monhegan Island: Hike to White Head and Burnt Head (Photos)

Our first hike on Monhegan Island was a long loop from the lighthouse, to “White Head” (the middle bluff on the ocean side of the island), to”Burnt Head,” through Lobster Cove, and back to town. It was a fairly rigorous hike, especially with our plein air backpacks. Rocks and roots on the trail provided us with many steps 18″ or more. We had a great time, but afterwards were ready for dinner!

The photos in this post provide not only a record of our wonderful hike, but are reference photos and compositional ideas for future paintings.
