Petals Overhead and Underfoot (New Landscape Painting in Oil and Pastel)

Petals Overhead and Underfoot (New Landscape Painting in Oil and Pastel)
Petals Overhead and Underfoot, Landscape Painting in Oil and Pastel Petals Overhead and Underfoot (Pastel with oil) by Polly Castor

Happy Earth Day!

As one who loves nature and advocates for the protection of the earth, everyday is Earth Day to me– but let’s celebrate Earth Day with both a new landscape painting exalting in the beauty of spring, but also a new technique!

This painting is my first to combine both pastel and oil, but it will not be my last! The 15 % oil here, really made both a textural and gestural difference. It is 18″x24″ with a whole lot of pigment applied to layer on the rich color here.

What do you think? Do you like it?

And the glorious earth? Please let’s take care of it.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves. It is beautiful, Polly! Today we drove home from Northumberland (UK) and one of the roads we took passed beneath over-arching white blossoms – it felt like the earth was hugging us! We left early and met deer feeding and sweet little lambs watching us pass. …. in the words of the song …. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world. xx

It’s beautiful Polly and reminds me of a spectacular purple wisteria I saw blooming in a neighbour’s garden, yesterday!
