New Plein Air Pastel Landscape: Florence Griswold View

New Plein Air Pastel Landscape: Florence Griswold View

Polly Castor plein air painting, Polly Castor pastel, Polly Castor at Florence Griswold

I enjoyed painting this on location with my pastel class at the Florence Griswold Museum last week. The weather was glorious and the view terrific. While painting this piece, I also had a good time chatting with many museum members who honored me with enthusiastic feedback. Since I strive for expressing a higher (more inner?) reality, I was surprised by how many resonated with this work; they liked it more than a strictly representational scene, and I felt encouraged. The size of this pastel painting is 12″ x 18″, and it is done on archival sanded paper.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
