In the Christian Science church, kids are eligible to attend Sunday School until they are 20 years old, after which time they attend the concurrent Sunday service with the adults.
Our oldest turned 20 last Friday, and today it was a joy to conduct the service and see her shining face in the congregation. After the service, Virginia officially crossed this important threshold at a church ceremony honoring her graduation, where she was presented with the traditional gift of a Church Manual to mark the occasion.
Shown here is Virginia with a couple of her Sunday School teachers, as well as joining in some carol singing. The presenter today shared that we often hear about how it takes a community to raise a child, but that the opposite is also true: a child is a gift to the community. This is so true! Together we have shared all along with pride and delight in who Virginia is becoming. She has always let her light shine on a candlestick for all those in the house to see.
Virginia has joined both the Mother Church in Boston and her branch church in Annapolis, where they’ve already signed her up as an usher and an attendant in the children’s room. Much Love!
