My painting, Up Through the Meadow, received an honorable last Saturday at the current Connecticut Pastel Society show held in Southington, CT at SOCCA. The show will be up until April 30, 2022, if you can get by to see it. Below you can see some of my favorite paintings in the show. I’m grateful for the recognition among peers, and I’ve already spent the cash award on more pastel paper. You can see the juror’s art here.
It was good to see everyone again after two years! This show was in March two years ago, and was one of the last things I did before lock-down. It felt like the pandemic was bookended with this show, symbolizing a return to more normalcy. It was especially fun to greet some of my former abstract students, and see what they are doing now. One said that because of my workshop, she started using brighter color, and that now she’ll never go back. It was great to see her so delighted. This makes me as happy as the award!
