Danny Gregory Books (Sketchbook Ideas #26)

I friend from Maine loaned me the book above of a favorite author’s illustrated memoir of the year after his wife’s unexpected passing. It is a moving tribute to her as well as a poignant record of the process of grief and healing after such a loss, complete with different people’s responses, both helpful (the fruit seller’s huge hug) and the unhelpful (someone telling him this was a test from the universe).  It is a quick and worthwhile read.

Reading the book above, reminded me of these four books of his (shown below) that I also loved and highly recommend. With exception of the last one (my blog review here in 2015), I read them all pre-blog, so they’ve never been recommended here. This is an oversight, because these books were very influential for me– encouraging me to work in sketchbooks, travel journals, and artist journals, which have all been important for me. These books are generally available, so check them out of your library. I can’t recommend them enough.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
