A "Golden Shovel"Poem

A “Golden Shovel” Poem

To stop being a puppet of circumstance,
begin to practice failure.
Wade beyond the swamp
of your useless fears
to find the bouyant bliss
beyond happiness.
Have one star,
dependable and bright,
for wishing on,
because we cannot
separate ourselves
from the serendipitous
wildness of the world.
For example,
if you could look inside me now,
you’d find fields of zinnias,
yearning and reaching.

Note:  The “Golden Shovel” is a modern poetic form invented by Terence Heyes, and this is the one I wrote recently in that painting workshop I attended. Google the Golden Shovel and write one of your own. Be flexible with the rules. Mine here, the order is reorganized. I had never written one before but it is super easy.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
