After focusing on my one woman show, I’m starting to think about new artwork, and I thought I’d try something new to get my gears going.
These are all 18″x24″ and abstracted from the fall landscape here. They are done in oil pastel, soft pastel, Caran D’Ashe crayon, and gouache (used straight from the tube with no brush), done on drawing paper. I got into putting down gooey gouache and oil pastel and then going over it with soft pastels which stuck into it so nicely.
I was focusing on mark making and the colors of autumn we’ve been experiencing. I’ve really been studying the local fall palette of colors, and you’ll see more posted about this in the near future. Meanwhile, I thought you’d want to see the genesis of the process with these.
Which one do you think best? Do they look like autumn to you?
