Morocco: Monkeys, Nomads, and Date Palms in the Atlas Mountains

Morocco: Monkeys, Nomads, and Date Palms in the Atlas Mountains

Headed to the Sahara, we crossed the Atlas Mountains. On the way, in the cedar groves in the national park, we saw monkeys. Then we visited nomads in their cozy, makeshift home; they radiated happiness and humble pride. We had lunch in a private home where we watched the bread being made and cooked over the fire; it was by far the best bread of our trip. Then we hiked in the arid plain with mountain views, and I did a little photo study of the date palms. At dinner, the table was decorated with rose petals for our daughter’s birthday, and they sang to her with a delicious chocolate cake.
