Morocco: Mountains, Oasis, and Fossils

Atlas Mountain Fossils

A driving day over the dry and beige Atlas Mountains toward the Sahara, we had lunch in a date palm oasis, and then learned about the amazing fossils of the area.  During Pangaea, Morocco was connected to the American southwest at the Gulf of Mexico, and I was familiar with these Moroccan rocks and fossils, which are similar to ours there. Our daughter now wants a a fossil slab for a dining room table in her dream home.
