We had a lovely canoe day on South Branch Pond. You can rent canoes from the park for $1/hr, which is one of the best deals around. We took our time and made a day of it, enjoying the view, the reflections of the shore and sky in the water, a short hike at the end of the lake down to the next lake south (ironically called North Branch Pond), floating and paddling by turns.
We hung out and chatted, as we had last time, at the far end of the lake near the birches where that rainbow had landed. The place and the companionship definitely felt like the pot of gold.
This is the kind of languidly beautiful day that needs to be bottled up in one’s memory to revisit during more barren or trying times. I’m so grateful for this bliss!
