William Blake Quote on Virtue

William Blake quote

“Jesus was all virtue, and acted from impulse, not from rules.”                                               William Blake

Virtue comes from spontaneously responding to the Creator and not from obedience to a fixed expectation or to adherence to someone’s limited ideas.

Virtue comes from reflecting God without interference — expressing an unfolding improvisation of God’s essence.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves. Made me think of the Jerusalem Hymn written by Blake, and often heard at British ceremonies and used by their suffragette movement (Millicent Fawcett etc).

Whether heard at Prince Williams and Kate Middleton’s wedding, or from my old ELP album, it nearly drops me to my knees. I’ve listened to it when I needed mental strength once in awhile.

“I will not cease from mental fight
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
    Till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant land”
