I like how Arden Bendler Browning’s work straddles the line between abstraction and landscape painting. I’ve spent a lot of time in the woods and these ring true to me as representations as well as abstractions. In addition, I admire the detail in her work as well as her facility with layering and mixing her media.
She says of herself on her website, “My studio process relies heavily on process and play, while always looking to the observable world for grounding.” She also says, “I want to offer people a way to be so immersed in a world that they can wander and imagine, but can also feel encouraged to explore and meander without a directive to solve or comprehend.”
She is based in Philadelphia and has had many shows, also sometimes doing public art or mixing her painting with digital experiences. You can follow her on Instagram here.
