Most pastel shows require 80% of the surface to be pastel. However, I just submitted these to a pastel show that refreshingly allows up to 50% of the surface to be non-pastel. This was wonderfully freeing.
I had lots of ideas but went with printing and collage, since that’s what I’ve been doing a lot of recently. I like the contrast of the smoothness of the pastel with the graininess of the print, and of course I always love a splash of collage. I’m looking forward to exploring this combination more.
Both paintings are 9″x12″ and are done in pastel over a monoprint, with one added piece of collage. If you are interested in purchasing one of these originals, contact me. (I have not yet listed them as available on my website, since they may need to be available for sale in this upcoming show.)
