Trick or Treat?

With no power, we had a very different type of Halloween. No trick or treaters, conventional style. No one left their homes due to downed live power lines. Our trick or treat was purely at mother nature’s behest. A freak snow storm. Cold darkness with orange candlelight and convivial togetherness huddled around a continually stoked fire. We gobbled up all the candy we intended to give out.
The pumpkin photos below are a few of more which were intended for a Halloween blog. But our reality was so different from that sunny moment of anticipation! My daughter was going to be a skunk for Halloween, but instead a real skunk gnawed on that gorgeous pumpkin we bought for our front step, ravenous in this weird weather.
