So I am back from pick up at Crystal Lake Camps and am thrilled my son had an awesome time during his counselor-in-training summer. I haven’t seen him in six weeks! Apparently, he and some friends resuscitated the camp’s science program and gave space shuttle simulations potent enough to make fast friends out of any quarreling kids. They shot off rockets at the top of a treeless hill. They scaled walls and waded through mud. They hiked 31 miles and went on a canoe trip which was mostly portages. Most impossibly, they got little kids to write home. It was a loving and accepting environment that our son thrived in. He wants to return next summer as a counselor…
