My husband and I are alone in our home with our children scattered around the globe. As I mentioned before, our oldest is in London as a graduation present from her aunt that lives there. My son, our middle child (14 years old), just flew yesterday to Alaska for a sea kayaking and glacier camping adventure with a national church group. And yesterday, I just dropped off my youngest daughter (12 years old) at a three week sleep-away “Writing and Imagination” camp at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. They all are having a wonderful time.

In this post are pictures I took yesterday of the Mount Holyoke College campus. It is a lovely place. Also included are pictures of my daughter’s dorm and dorm room. (Her roommate had not arrived yet, but from her name we know she’s asian…) My daughter is thrilled to have the opportunity to be here for this and is very eager and excited. She was also relieved that the food seemed decent! Her teacher is a wonderful woman; she teaches High School in Amherst during the year, and does this in the summer because it revives her enthusiasm for teaching, invigorating and refreshing her, since the kids at this camp are so bright, wholehearted and keen. The kids were nice – about 50% Asian, 25% Indian, and the minority Caucasian. (The girl in the dorm room next to my daughters’ came all the way from Korea for this program!) It takes a certain kind of kid to want to go to “school” in the summer. For my homeschooled daughter, this will be more “school” than she’s ever had. Enjoy…

(PS: We are now informed that our daughter’s roommate finally arrived… all the way from South Korea! There are two in her class of fourteen from there. What a wonderful cultural exchange opportunity! Also, she’s “stuffing herself” on the food which is a good sign for my erudite eater, who will refuse to eat if it doesn’t meet her standards… She sounds very happy…)
