Peace is Holy, Sweet Stillness

Peace is Holy, sweet stillness

“What type of atmosphere of thought do I wish to have for myself and for the world… Made me think of one of my favorite quotes from Gandhi but changed a bit… Be the PEACE you wish to see in the world…

What is peace? And what would it mean to live in an atmosphere of peace? What is it we are striving for? Especially when all around us seems to be in discord and conflict…

It came to thought that peace is holy, sweet stillness… it is rest and comfort … it is feeling nurtured and supported… it is not only a lack of conflict or discord…it is harmony in the reign of Spirit… The Kingdom of Heaven here and now… I think we all wish to “feel the unspeakable peace which comes from an all-absorbing spiritual love” (SH 264)

If this is the atmosphere which we wish to create, we must first know it within ourselves as we reflect “the God of peace and love” (2 Cor. 13) and radiate that peace outward to the world … to create an atmosphere in which we wish to exist… “be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace.” (2 Cor. 13)…

That sense of peace and stillness isn’t stagnate… allows ideas to flow, life to flourish and activity to unfold harmoniously…

So think about this today… and “do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” (Ps. 34) … “and the God of love and peace shall be with you”(2 Cor. 13) in all that you do!”

Peace. Shalom. The resurrected Jesus greeted his disciples with Shalom! Peace! He was saying that the peace of the
Age to Come is now here. Whatever peace we’re talking about must transcend the limits of our personal perceptions.
It must include what we derisively call politics. Peace on earth is inside and outside us.
