New Abstract Oil Painting: An Homage to Edgar Payne

In my painting class at camp, when we discussed composition we were challenged to take the composition of a recognized masterwork and make it our own. I chose the Edgar Payne work above, and you can see my abstract interpretation below.

What drew me to choose this painting is that it is one that I like, but also since it has has more undetailed space than most of my work, I wanted to try something different. However, I’m not totally keen about the resulting painting, and may tinker with it some more someday. It is large (24” x 30”) and done in oil.
