The Artist movie review

I enjoyed this movie even though I’ll only give it three stars.  Maybe I was just glad to get out, but I found the premise of a largely wordless movie entertaining.  It was amazing how much more facial expression was used when one could not rely on words to convey meaning.

But I also found it sad and unnatural that the main character was unwilling to progress. The movie reminded me of a Mary Baker Eddy quote: “Willingness… to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea.”  It is true that love conquers and dissolves self-sabotage, regardless of how stubborn and unnecessary it always is.  But how much better to be as receptive as the heroine in this film, by contrast!

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
