I have been enjoying the artwork of western Canadian Blu Smith recently. We share a similar approach to painting both abstracts and abstract landscapes. His color sense resonates with me, as do his organic shapes, and strong depiction of almost etherial light.

Check out his website here and some of his marvelous work in this post. You can see him paint in this video. You can also follow him on Facebook and Instagram as well.

I can’t look at these without itching to paint!

Nice artwork! I like the landscapes and the way you can see the light. The more abstract ones remind me of Batik fabric, which has always been a favorite of mine.

Beautiful work…thank you for including so many as i didnt want them to stop. I enjoy looking through your work too because there is so much going on in them that my imagination takes off. There are many similarities between your work. Yours are strong and bold most of the time while hers/his are more ethereal. I really appreciate your blog Polly. It brings joy every day.

Thanks for sharing all the artists you do. I love seeing them all. So beautiful and everyone unique in expression. Check out this artist from the Crownest pass. Kari Lehr . I grew up with her in our Sunday School. Here’s another artist. Judy Trafford. “Painting between the wind and the river” is the website name. Enjoy! and thanks again. By the way, I shared the Richard Rohr quote on Facebook.
