Two New “Broken Line” Abstract Pastels

Two New “Broken Line” Abstract Pastels
Insinuations painting by Polly Castor

Insinuations (pastel) by Polly Castor

It is great to be painting outside again. Here are my first two works painted outside this year, returning to a favorite method of “broken line,” that feels very authentic.

For the painting Insinuations, shown above, I borrowed from the composition I did last week, done with oil on claybord, titled Reflected Water Surface Close-up (see here), wanting to take it in a different direction with color. I like the result, which is large at 22″x30, and done in pastel.

The painting below, titled Wind Blown, is also done in broken line, and is reminiscent of the foliage on our hanging weeping cherry branches being tossed about in the wind. It is 22″x30″ and done in pastel as well.

Both of these look particularly good on the merchandise, I think…

Which is your favorite?

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
