Fall on the Housatonic (oil) by Polly Castor

 

This morning I cooled my heals north of here, while our youngest daughter was on a field trip. I took advantage of the time out of pocket and painted this lovely view of the Housatonic river in oil. I was attracted mostly by the sun filtering through the pinkish crimson poison ivy vines, contrasted against the light greenish blue of the slightly rippled water. It was a scrumptiously beautiful day to be outside painting.
