The One in a Million Boy (Book Review)

In all my years going to this book group, we’ve never had a book we all liked and all agreed on… until now. This is that book.

It is a heartwarming story where the main characters are an 104 year old woman and an 11 year old boy. They have a remarkable relationship, and it is interesting to sit in while they learn about and inspire each other, as well as everyone else. They are not the only ones transformed by this relationship.

The writing here is very good and the characters are convincingly drawn; you come to love Ona’s spunk as much as the boy’s enthusiasm.

The secret to being 104 in good health? Keep growing, learning new things, and being interested in life, regardless where your past has been.

I read this book without knowing anything about it, and feel in retrospect that that was probably a good thing. I didn’t even read the book jacket. So I guess I’ll just suggest you read this sweet, little likable book. I give it 4 stars.
