These are the paintings I liked in Society of Creative Arts in Newtown’s 40th spring juried show. I didn’t enter anything but I probably should have, as the show needs more good abstracts. Notably absent from these shots are the staid award winners; when do I get to judge a show? My choices for this show would be the large pastel above – that had fabulous texture that the photo doesn’t do justice – and the extraordinarily rich mixed media at the bottom. Unfortunately, those two artists are unlikely to ever know that. (Please pardon the odd angles on the photos to avoid reflections in the glass…)

I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
