Even dismal weather can be beautiful if you just look more closely, as these photos show. I’m enjoying the prospect of the coming winter, not just for how cozy it is inside with a book, or the effectiveness of getting more things done in fewer frolicking daylight hours.

I’m also looking forward to seeing the outside beauty as well in all its subtlety devoid of blooms and foliage. While I love the vibrant colors of the other seasons –and the challenge there is to capture the breadth of it – winter is more of a challenge of noticing nuance, and I’m embracing that change right now. So enjoy winter’s approach with me, those delightful first flowers of spring are a long way off!
