New Poem: Which Ant are You?

New Poem: Which Ant are You?

Poem by Polly Castor

Which Ant are You?

Apparently there are two types of ants.
They differ because of fundamentally opposite environments.
The ants in the desert do not act like those in the rain forest.
The desert ants lie back, conserving energy
until something good happens
and then they respond
while the rain forest ants rush around with gleeful abandon
until they get some negative indicator
which prompts them to redirect.

We live in consciousness:
but what is it that waters our thought
controlling the conditions
for it to be dictated
by either scarcity or abundance?
Which ant are you?
