My Kids’ Robot at the Homeschool Science Fair

My Kids’ Robot at the Homeschool Science Fair

homeschool science fair

Well, the FIRST robotics season is over and my kid’s team only made it to the semi-finals, unlike last year (and also three years ago) when they got to internationals. Today they brought their robot to the homeschooling science fair, and did a great job teaching little kids about it.

My kids and two of their homeschooling friends Elizabeth and Christopher, showed how the robot they built takes in basketballs from underneath and shoots them to make baskets in competition.  Initially my son had to twist Elizabeth’s arm to join the team, and now she’s so hooked she’s headed to WPI in the fall to study Robotics Engineering.  (These two are our homeschooling group’s only high school seniors graduating this spring, and we plan on honoring them in about a month.)

I was proud not only of their skills in making this robot but how kind and teacherly they were to all the younger kids today.
