Movie Review: The Illusionist

The Illusionist

This is the most unusual film I’ve seen in quite a while. Animated for adults, in detailed but subdued watercolors, this intentionally slow paced, sweet, movie is totally NOT from Disney! Created by Europeans and Asians, with incredibly little dialogue, the artwork in this is remarkable, the caricatures are interesting and varied, while the story is simple and subtle. If magicians are not real, then love certainly is, and that is miracle enough. I give it four stars.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
