Hike to Lower Yosemite Falls

Hike to Lower Yosemite Falls

Hike to Lower Yosemite Falls

We hiked both to Lower and Upper Yosemite Falls, but since I have so many photos, I have separated the two hikes into two posts. In this post I show you the views from the easy (flat) hike we took to the base of the lower falls that we did in the morning, and tomorrow I’ll show you photos from the rigorous (vertical) hike we took to the upper falls in the afternoon.

The lower falls hike starts with the great view of the entire falls shown above and leads directly to its crashing base. It then winds back along the resulting steam through a gorgeous forest, to very calm eddy with fabulous water reflections and unmelted snow. It culminates in a glen with another full view of the falls, at a glorious spot where John Muir had a cabin for two years.

The water was very clear, the air was brisk and invigorating, and the whole simple hike deeply nourished the soul.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves. Some of these photos look like impressionist paintings!
