Goodbye to our VW TDI

Goodbye to our VW TDI

Today VW buys back our 2012 Jetta TDI because they cheated on the emissions and designed the car to appear to pass emissions tests instead of actually doing it. Long time blog readers will remember us buying this car. The gas milage was great, but we were also sold on it being a good choice environmentally, which it turned out not to actually be. We are turning it over today with 115,000 miles on it. It is the last of three cars to have the SPA license plate; we’ve already bought our new car, so could not transfer the plates. I’ll miss the sunroof, heated seats, bike rack, great stereo system, and CD player, but not the feeling of being duped by a company we trusted. However, they are making good with their buy-back plan, for which I am grateful. I am also grateful for–and cherish– all the good times we’ve had in that car, some of which you can see in these photos.
