One artist that I wasn’t familiar with during my recent visit to the Yale University Art Gallery was Anne Ryan. She was a poet that started doing collage at the age of 57, and went on to create 400 of them. I loved her abstract compositions as well as her use of texture and layering. I have included below bits from the museum, some of her collages and shards of her poems. Usually I feature living artists on my blog, but this woman is one I wish I could have known; she feels like a contemporary on a different level. The combination and inclination for both poetry and abstract college is something I understand to my very core.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
