Book Review: Where'd You Go Bernadette?

I would probably never have read this fun, light book, except that it was a book club pick. Unexpectedly, I really enjoyed it, and give this romping novel four stars.

This book is written as a compilation of emails, invoices, letters, memos, and reports, that make it a breeze to read. Some parts of the plot you see coming and others are surprises. Bernadette is mother to a precocious 8th grader, and wife to a Microsoft superstar, but she has an accomplished past of her own. Set in Seattle, things unravel pretty far before they turn on the home stretch.

It is wonderful when fiction can be light without being stupid. There is a lot here that is snappy and intelligent; sometimes ranting, sometimes insightful, it is packed with interesting details that ring true. And I just love the character of Bee, the daughter in this story.

I recommend this as prefect vacation reading, or it would be a refreshing option for a commute. I hear the audio book is really well done too.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
